SPECIMEN safety data sheet: Animal fat and tallow (rendered)
THIS IS A SPECIMEN. IT IS NOT A SAFETY DATA SHEET.
It is published as a worked example, to show which information belongs in which of the sixteen sections required by Regulation (EU) 2020/878. It contains no batch data, no supplier data and no customer data, and it must never be supplied, presented or relied upon as a real safety data sheet.

1.Identification of the substance/mixture and of the company/undertaking
Product: Rendered fat of animal origin, categorised under Regulation (EC) No 1069/2009, traded as an oleochemical and biofuel feedstock.
Identified use: Feedstock for biofuel and oleochemical production.

Triglycerides of animal origin with free fatty acids and moisture. Species mix determines the fatty acid profile and the titre.

Requires heated storage and heated lines above the titre point, typically in the region of 38 to 44 C depending on species mix.
Solidification in an unheated tank or container is the most common practical problem with this product.

9.Physical and chemical properties
Appearance: solid to semi-solid at ambient, liquid when heated. Odour: characteristic.

What to do with this
