The short version. This website sets no cookies, runs no advertising trackers and builds no profiles. If you send us a message through the contact form, we receive your name, e-mail address and what you wrote, and we use it to answer you. That is the whole of it.
Everything below is the same statement in the detail the law asks for.
1. Who is responsible
Sustainable Commodities 3 B.V. is the controller for the personal data described here.

For any question about this statement, or to exercise a right described in section 8, that e-mail address reaches us directly.
2. What we collect through the contact form
The contact form on this site asks for the following. Only the name, e-mail address and message are needed for us to reply; the rest is there because it usually shortens the conversation.
- Name and e-mail address — so we know who you are and can answer.
- Company and telephone number — optional.
- Your message — whatever you choose to write.
- The page you sent it from — recorded so the enquiry arrives with its context. It tells us which market you were reading about, nothing about you.
- A copy to yourself — only if you tick that box.
The form also contains a hidden field that is invisible to you and normally filled in only by automated spam. If it arrives filled in, the message is discarded. It collects nothing about a human visitor.
3. Why we may use it, and on what basis
We use what you send to answer your enquiry and, if it leads somewhere, to carry out the business relationship that follows. Under the General Data Protection Regulation the basis is Article 6(1)(b), steps taken at your request before entering into a contract and the performance of that contract, and Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in responding to a business enquiry addressed to us.
We do not use your data for anything else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not profile you, and no decision about you is taken by automated means.
4. Who else sees it
Three parties are involved in getting your message to us, and each one only for that purpose:
- FormSubmit processes the form submission and forwards it to us as an e-mail. It is the technical relay between the button you press and our inbox.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and delivers it to your browser.
- Microsoft provides the mailbox the message arrives in.
We do not sell personal data, we do not trade it, and we do not pass it to third parties for their own purposes. Where a counterparty needs to know who you are because you have asked us to introduce you, that happens only with your agreement — keeping names apart until both sides want to meet is how we work, and it is described on our brokerage page.
5. Cookies and measurement
This website sets no cookies. It stores nothing in your browser, it uses no advertising or social media trackers, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
We do count visits, using Cloudflare Web Analytics. It reports how many people viewed which page, roughly where in the world they were, and which site they arrived from. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you across other websites. We see totals, not people.
6. Links to other sites
Our market pages cite their sources and link to them — EUR-Lex, certification schemes, trade publications and similar. Once you follow such a link you are on someone else's website under their privacy statement, not ours. We have no control over what they do and no insight into it.
7. How long we keep it
Correspondence is kept for as long as the business relationship it belongs to is live, and afterwards for as long as we may need it to settle a question about a transaction. Where a message relates to our administration, Dutch tax law obliges us to keep it for seven years. An enquiry that leads to nothing is kept far more briefly, and you can ask us to delete it sooner.
8. Your rights
You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it erased, to have its use restricted, to object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to bart@sustainablecommodities.eu and we will answer within one month.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you are entitled to complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. We would rather you told us first, but that route is yours regardless.
9. Security
This site is served over HTTPS, so what you send through the form is encrypted in transit. Access to the mailbox that receives your message is limited and protected by two-factor authentication. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects your data and the law requires us to tell you, we will.
10. Changes
If this statement changes, the new version appears here with a new date at the top. Material changes are not applied retroactively to data we already hold.
